10 Quilts for Charity

Whew!! I got my 10 quilts finished with time to spare (barely)!! It's a huge releif because I've got soooo many other projects I'm also trying to get done (as usual)!!

Anyway, this quilt on the top is just a girly stripe that I was originally going to sell to a co-worker. She didn't think it was girly enough for her 9-year-old neice though, so I made her a different quilt and decided to donate this one.
This quilt is just a simple butterfly stripe but I love the aray of blues in it! I LOVE the fabrics in this quilt and the one below!! I still have some of the fabric left from each of the four prints so I'll be able to make myself something. They are just simple squares but are bright and vibrant. I'm sure they will cheer up someone's room!

I had a lot more of these two fabrics than the other two so that is why I made a second quilt just using them. I think it is still super cute!!

This quilt is a cute doggy stripe that I was able to make just using fabric that I already had (which is always a good thing!).

This patriotic rail fence is cute but took a lot of time so I didn't make any other quilts like it.

This patriotic stripe quilt is another simple one that I think will be perfect for a guy.

This blue/green stars quilt is another cute one.

This red/cream/green quilt I had just made for fun but then realized would be a good one to donate because it would work for either a guy or a girl. This scottie dog quilt came from a kit at a local quilt shop. Although, I did buy a few of the fabrics in the outer squares and the border from JoAnn's.

Baby Blankets

Here are a couple photos of some baby blankets I made and sold to a co-worker. She found the pattern in a Martha Stewart magazine that originally used seersucker, with the stripes running in every direction. It looked really nice and I'm working on collecting the fabric to make it like the that, but in the mean time, I thought they would be cute in flannel, and, of course, would help put a big dent in my stash!!

Anyway, now I'm working on a bunch for my friend Boots to sell at flea markets in Montana this summer. I got 18 tops done this week and another 12 cut out. Hopefully they'll be a big hit!!

Red and Brown Hats

My mom's friend Sandy had sent me a magazine article about some slouchy knit hats and had requested that I make her a red and brown one. I was actually able to use up some of my stash, which was great! I used two patterns from the Holiday 2007 issue of KnitSimple.

I knit them in the car on the way to CA and finished them minutes before she came to my grandma's house after spending time with my mom. :) She offered to pay me for them, but they were so much fun to make and didn't cost me anything so I just gave them to her as a Christmas present (in January). :)
They are really more like tams or berets than slouchy hats, and I think they look really cute on her.

Trip to CA in January - Temecula Quilt Co.

Here I (Carrie) am outside of the Temecula Quilt Co. shop. My family and I visited my Grandmother in CA in January and this shop was about an hour and a half from my Grandma's house. My mom had seen it in a quilting best shops across the US magazine and it was definitely a great shop. So cute!
This was the display behind the cash register and the magnetic bulletin board was used to show their class schedules. She made her own magnets and the "sign" that says 'Temecula Quilt Co Est. 2007' is a quilt.
The store had a great collection of fabrics with little "kits" or "rolls" that were only $10 for a set of coordinating prints. It had lots of reproduction type fabrics.
My grandmother and my mother outside the quilt shop. It was a very nice time!

Christmas Presents for friends

Here's a bunch of pictures of Christmas presents I (Carrie) made for friends/coworkers - knitted dishcloths and more quilted placemats. And also a scarf out of a soft faux-fur yarn. They were lots of fun to make and give away. I do think that I need to learn to start making my Christmas presents in September so I can finish them in time. :)

Quilt Day from November 2010

I know this is quite a while ago, but here are some pictures from our quilt day in November.

First is a picture of my mom and Carol. My mom is working on the Abraham Lincoln quilt she is making for my dad (Christmas present). She is using Civil War reproduction fabric and making it "nap" size (long enough for my dad to nap under). :)

Carol was playing around with some fussy-cut centered log cabins for a table runner that she was making from scraps - they really went together nicely. I thought I had taken a picture of her final product, but I can't seem to find it. The colors were brown and green.


Maria worked on her red and white quilt blocks that will be for her daughter's bed when she gets married. The picture really doesn't do justice to the colors - it is vibrant and the squares are so precise.
Lastly, the project that I (Carrie) worked on were placemats for a Christmas present for someone at work. I found the free pattern at sew4home.com and it went together really nicely and used up batting scraps. :) I had made cloth napkins (using a rolled hem foot) for the same lady last year with the fabric that is in the middle of the placemats. I used the last little bit of the middle fabric that I had left over for a bread basket napkin. The backing is the same poinsettia fabric that is on the outside. I did stitch in the ditch down the middle and top-stitching around the edges with gold thread - it turned out nicer than I was expecting. :)

Our next "quilt day" is scheduled for February 26th, I'll try to post pictures right away after that one. :)

Breast Cancer Shawl

I made a breast cancer shawl/scarf for my aunt in Texas. It's a very loose yarn-over, knit 2 together pattern that should be perfect for down there. My sister is modeling it while stretching for a run.
